Why a credential

Not a certificate. A signal on the marketplace where you already sell.

Higher visibility

Certified educators surface above non-certified peers when families search the KTA+ marketplace for classes and workshops.

Evidence, not attendance

The credential is awarded on classroom work reviewed by a mentor. It records what you did with students, not how many videos you watched.

A portfolio that speaks

Your public portfolio at institute.ktaplus.io carries reflections, rubric scores, and sample sessions any family can read.

The journey

Five stages, in order, mentored throughout.

Each stage produces evidence from your real class. Your mentor reviews it against a public rubric.

Stage 1

Foundations

Define your educational philosophy, join a live cohort circle, and respond to reflection prompts.

You submit

Written reflections and a philosophy statement.

Who reviews it

Your cohort mentor and two peer educators.

Stage 2

Practice Labs

Run missions in your own classroom and upload evidence. A photo, a short video, or a document.

You submit

Classroom evidence across three missions.

Who reviews it

Your mentor, against a shared observation rubric.

Stage 3

Mentored

Submit a recorded session, get reviewed against the rubric, and iterate through resubmissions.

You submit

A recorded classroom session and a written response.

Who reviews it

Your mentor, in a threaded review.

Stage 4

Certification

Assemble your portfolio and submit it for final review by the Institute panel.

You submit

A portfolio drawing on every prior stage.

Who reviews it

Two Institute reviewers plus your mentor.

Stage 5

Verified Educator

Your badge activates on your KTA+ profile and your portfolio becomes public.

You submit

Nothing. The credential is issued.

Who reviews it

The Institute, via the marketplace webhook.

Mentorship

A real mentor watches the class you already teach.

Each submitted session is reviewed by a KTA+ mentor against a public observation rubric. The mentor writes back inside a feedback thread, marks the criteria that were met, and names the criteria that need another attempt.

You resubmit. The thread stays open. The credential is not a test you pass once, it is a record of the loop between what you did in class, what a more experienced educator saw, and what you did next.

Self-paced courses cannot do this. The mentored loop is the argument.

Mentor · Feedback thread
Amelia Chen · Mentor

Strong opening. The turn-and-talk lands in 30 seconds. Rubric 3.2 met.

You

Questions

What educators ask before they apply.

How much time does the certification take per week?

Plan on three to five hours per week across a full cohort. Most of that time is spent teaching your own class and reflecting on it, not consuming lessons.

How much does it cost?

Cohort fees are set per intake and shown on the application page. We do not display a price on marketing pages so the figure you see is always the current one.

What counts as evidence?

A short classroom video, a photo set of student work, or a lesson artefact with a written reflection. Evidence must show your practice, not a rehearsed demonstration.

Do student faces have to be visible in video submissions?

No. Frame from behind students, blur faces, or record over the shoulder. Mentors review teaching moves, not identifiable minors.

What happens if a submission is rejected?

You receive rubric-anchored feedback and resubmit. There is no cap on resubmissions inside a cohort. Rejection is part of the mentored loop, not a failure.

How long does the badge last?

The KTA+ Certified badge stays active for two years. Renewal requires a short refresher submission, not a full recertification.

Does this work for educators outside the KTA+ marketplace?

The credential is designed for educators who sell on KTA+. Educators outside the marketplace can still apply, but the badge activates only once a KTA+ profile exists.

What does Premium mean?

Premium is an invitation-only tier granted to Certified educators who consistently mentor peers. It carries the diamond mark and higher marketplace visibility.

Earn the badge families search for.
